A Place to Flourish
Safe spaces for children to learn, play and heal.
Azahir creates safe, nurturing community centers where children affected by displacement find education, psycho-social support, and hope for the future.

AZAHIR NGO
Our mission
Our mission is to create safe spaces for at-risk children and meaningful opportunities for youth, through education, psycho-social support and community development.
Our vision
Our vision a cohesive society where empowered youth lead communities towards resilience and peace.
Children
Refugee and marginalized children are falling behind in their studies. Azahir implements a daily program for education, literacy, and psychosocial support (PSS).
Throughout the school year, we serve students from grades 1 through 9 daily. During the summer, we organize special programs.
Youth
Our young people face many challenges. We offer awareness sessions, community sports games and non-violent communication to help them develop skills for their future.
We also offer STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) programs through the SPARK-PY project, and opportunities to take part in social and scientific research thanks to collaborations with research centers.
Family and Community
To foster a stable family environment, we offer psychosocial support to families so they can learn to manage their trauma caused by war and forced displacement.
Our Positive Parenting workshops teach about child development and simple strategies parents can use at home. We also organize cultural events to preserve our culture and provide safe spaces in times of celebration (Eid, Christmas, Easter, Ramadan).
Emergency Response
Since March 2, 2026, a bombing campaign has targeted hundreds of Lebanese villages and residential areas in the capital, Beirut. With mass evacuation orders in place, thousands of families and children are arriving in the North, where Azahir is based.
Azahir Centers are opening their doors, establishing safe spaces for children and offering emergency psychological support. We are currently the only organization providing emergency education and psychological support services for the newly displaced.
We believe every child has the right to play and be safe. Children can best learn and grow in a healthy & safe environment surrounded by a supportive community and positive mentors. We also believe in the potential of young people in marginalized and displaced communities. They have the ability to be agents of change. They can become role models and peace leaders.
Azahir has created a program cycle from these two beliefs. In this program, our Local Youth Teams serve as Educators and PSS Coaches for children and parents. This garners greater community resilience in North Lebanon. It includes Nahr el Bared Palestinian Refugee Camp and Tel Mayaan village in Akkar.

“Putting a smile on those children’s faces was more powerful than all the bullets in the war.”
